On 10 June 1944, a massacre took place in Oradour-sur-Glane. The village was encircled and completely destroyed that day by the first regiment “Der Führer” of the 2nd SS Panzer Division Das Reich. Arnac-Pompadour
Pompadour, a small town famous for its château. The birthplace of the Anglo-Arabian breed, it has had a national stud farm since 1976 and organises renowned equestrian shows. Gallop, cross-country and steeplechase races take place from the last weekend of June to September on the racecourse, which is considered one of the most beautiful in France.
